Best way to make a design option

I´m very new to design options so I thought that I´d ask before I do something wrong.

I´ve been working on a model and now I need to make an optional design from the model that changes a part of one floor.

So, I need to make changes to part of the view that already has stuff in the main model in the same place. So my primary option and main model are the same. But how do I hide the parts from the main model in the secondary option that I need to alter? What is the best way to achieve this?

First i would suggest you look over the topics in the Help related to design Options if you have not already.

So a more direct answer to your question of controlling the visibility of items; It is important to understand that to Revit the "Main Model" refers to everything that is common between the 2 options. The area where you have 2 potential layouts, everything there is an "option". So you are going to have 2 options there and all elements that are different and need to be visible or not visible will be placed in "options" everything that is visible in both options is part of the "Main Model".

Once you set up options, there is an additional tab in the visibility and Graphics Overrides dialog that lets you control which option is visible in a view. Typically when i set up options I make duplicate views, each explicitly showing the options i have in the model.

The primary option should not contain any duplicated elements from the main model. Even if you set the main model to be active, the elements from the primary option will be shown. This is why it is called "Primary option". So, if you remove all the duplicates, you will solve the problem.

Edited: my English is so bad lol

...to add onto what @loboarch was speaking to regarding setting up a duplicate view for each DO; be aware that Visibility ans Settings Dialog Box will add a tab for Design Options once they are created. It is through these settings that you assign a particular Design Option to that "duplicate" view (e.g. change from default <Automatic>  to the DO name you want that view to show).

So because my main model is ready made with the "first option" I now need to move the things that are already in the main model to a design option so that the second option that varies from those elements looks right as well?

Or I just hide all the elements from the main model that I don´t want to show in the second option in that specific view?

Probably the first one because if the client chooses something else than the primary option the changes to the main model are much easier to make if they are options.

Yes this is correct. There is even a button on the design option toolbar to do just that. "Add to Set" You make the option, select the items from the main model you want to go there, and click "Add to Set". Now chose the option where the stuff goes. It is pretty easy to do, it is not like you are redoing anything just a couple of clicks to get it done.
