best practice - notify co-workers of....

I have taken on the responsibility of keeping the office standards/libraries/etc. updated and create new components/detail items/sweeps/tags/etc.

my question to the community, what/how is the best way to let co-workers know of any new/updated families/templates/etc.?

Thank you in advance!

I don't know the best way to let your co-workers know of any new/updated families/templates/etc.  How big is your organization?

The best option is to create a CDE (Common Data Environment) that is accessible for all the stakeholders , with level of accessibility. That can be done  :

  • either in dedicated server , using WAN - you will need the server and the specific software and maintenance...
  • or  the Cloud  that tend now to be the most appropriate solution :
    • BIM 360 Design from Autodesk is  thought special for collaboration and team work purposes (at Design level) and has a lot of instruments conceived for this
    • or you can use other cloud solutions as DropBox, Google Drive...and so on

was thinking of more along the lines of a list of updated families, etc.

maybe keep it as simple as an email notification of whats new in the office library.

I recommend you to have a  look to  BS1192 Standards.

I've attached the : AEC (UK) BIM Standard for Autodesk Revit, because I think it is a very good guide.

Have a special look to:

  • chapter 4. Collaborative BIM Data Sharing
  • chapter 10. Resources

As I understood you are a BIM Manager . There are lot of materials about this job's attributes(BS1192,  AIA Documents, and many others)
