I cannot tell in your picture...what is the beam? What should it attach to? Can you give a shaded 3D image with the beam selected so its endpoints are visible?

I can't tell anything from those pictures really. I need to know what families the beam and columns are. I need to see their parameters. Are they the same material? Do either of them have coping applied?

Can you attache your file for me to look at?

Here you go the files are attached. Yes both are structural elements. No they have different materials. But in other areas are connecting each other. I am getting this problem in rare cases. And the families are inbuilt from the revit architecture. And i did not create or download the families.

Not sure what causing the gap but disallow join will fix it.

Weird. I fixed it by aligning the faces. But now the shape handles of the beams won't snap to the column faces at all. I HAVE to align them to get them there.

The "Disallow join" feature for beams was introduced in Revit 2015. Maybe you are using 2014?

You have to right click on the shape handle (the little blue dot at the end of the beam). Each end has its own allow/dissallow state.
