so i'm trying to make a few beams in specific areas i need them and i don't have a grid there. i try to put the beam and for some reason it falls way below my model. i try to assign it to a certain level but doesn't work. what can i do to fix this?
could you add a screen shot or video for what's happening with you so we could help

Are you sure the you are not seeing the Stick Symbol instead of the geometry. Maybe it is aligned properly. Change your Detail Level to Medium or Fine.
What's the Beam's "Z Justication" ?
i do find the beam but it appears way below the model. for some reason, now when placing them they appear in the right place, maybe it was a bug yesterday.
Z justication: Top
also what are all these settings at the side? justications, offset value here really refers to regular offset?
1. is to control the beam geometric position for all the beam (uniform) or the start and the end (independent)
2. the line you draw for the beam (center or right or left) and the revit aglines the beam to it
3. y offset is the distance you need to align the beam to from the line you draw
4. z justification is the alignment in the elevation top means the top line of the beam is on the placement level
5. z offset the distance of the alignment from the placement plane
6. reference level and below placement plan to change select the beam and in the modify tab you will find edit work plane
7,8 . start and end offset from placement plan to move the beam to it
