Hello Revit Community,
I have a doubt that I would like to share with you and see your comments on this.
We are going to start soon placing bathroom and kitchen PODS in our project.
There are different options:
1.Families
2.Groups
3.Rvt Links
Obviously we would need to schedule this PODS and associate them with the apartment they sit on.
Apparently the best option would be the Link but I cannot find a way make to schedule work.
Any comment would be appreciated.
Many thanks
I think Linking is the best choice.
You can get items from linked models in your schedules.
Take a look at the attached image.
Of course depends on the situation. How many units, differences between units etc.
Grouping does not seem ideal. Especially if you have to mirror or rotate the units.
Family can be an option. Nest all your 'kitchen'families as shared in a bigger family and you can schedule them
I have never tried with linking. You can schedule them but I have not exprience what will happeen if you have to place many links.
There are also other things to consider. Do you have to place them all? Is it not possible to fill one or two units and use other means to 'schedule' other units?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
I would model the various PODS completey in their own project file. Turn each one into an assembly. Then you can copy to clipboard and paste any assembly into the target project, complete with all families. When pasted they still remain an assembly in the target project just as they were in the source project file. The assembly name gets changed though, but that's not a big deal to fix. Not only will you be able to schedule individual familes, but you will be able to schedule the assembies themselves with a POD schedule or whatever.
A new type of assembly is created every time you rotate or mirror it - how to fix this. And limit number of types created.
Working with Washroom Pods.
I would recommend Groups, but with very specific rules:
- no wall-hosted families
-don't attach walls to floors, roof, or levels above ( use "unconnected height")

Hello! I would defiantly go with links. This is how we do large apartment blocks. the block itself is one model with the different flat types linked in. Really helpful for scheduling as it means we can scheduled items per flat type of even by plot number using the link instance name. Door are the example I've used below. just make sure you tick the include elements from link option! What ive also tried to show is if you click the drop down menu it givess you access to the links parameters such as the link file name and the link instance name. Could be helpful if your trying to schedule thinks by pod type? Hope this helps!
