Batch Update Nested family Components

Hi All,

Looking for a little help.

If this is covered elsewhere please point me in the right direction.

Okay, we're a furniture manufacturer and I've been busy creating our library of families for a while now.

Our cupboards are made up of nested families, so each piece is it's own family, this helps me create cutting lists and buying sheets etc.

So, when I update one of the nested families, let's say the base panel, I then need to update it in a lot of families and opening and updating each one individually is NOT the way to go. Surely there's an app for that?

Anybody got any recommendations on my best way forward?

Many thanks..

hi @mark

The following scenario will help you win this "challenge". The ideea is to have those common nested families shared. Bringing all the initial hosted-cupboards in a blank new project, having their common nested families shared and later..making an update in one family for 1 shared-nested or more..and bring it back to that project will automatically update all cupboards nested common families based on the updated one, just being shared.

Shared = visibile in schedule, nothing more. If you need later to save updated cupboards independently, simply save the families library.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply.

So, the idea is use a project as my main storage area.

All cupboards loaded into the project, use project to access the families and open them for editing also use the project to open them for inserting into "working" projects.

I like the idea, also having the project as a central storage also gives me a regular back up too..

Thanks..
