Hi There,
Looking for some advice on how to approach what i need to achieve.
The company I have just started working for wants me to do a set out plan for these wall base tracks, and then 1200w wall panels sit inside it. They want me to dimension to the channel on one sheet, but then also show the panel breaks on another sheet, so the lads in the workshop know where to cut the panels. It's a specialist product, sort of like a cool room panel, that comes in specific sizes.
They also want it all to be done in 3D so it's visible to clients.
I need to be able to schedule the panels individually(wall type and then panel number) and the base track, so that I can estimate lengths, and costs etc.
Up until this point they have been using a generic model of the track and the 3D wall panel, and copy and pasting them into place, and using excel to schedule. Very time consuming and the models end up clunky.
Any idea on how to best approach this?
The curtain walls can be divided into panels, which you can define. The base track would be a mullion with a suitable profile, which you can define with a profile family. If all panels are the same size, you can set this into the properties as shown below. You can also model your own panels if required.
Thanks @Anonymous I'll have a play and see if that works. i've already made a custom panel and base track profile, i just need to figure out how to schedule the half panels in the event that they don't meet the fixed sizing.
Ok, so turns our curtain walls won't be an option, as our specialist door and window families won't work with curtain walls, and i have no idea how to convert them into families that will work with the curtain wall.
I managed to create the proper profile for the track and panels, and it was so close to being perfect, except the door and window issue.
Any other options here?
I'm not sure that i'm skilled enough to convert the specialist doors to curtain wall doors, we have other specialist things that host to regular walls too such as pass through boxes, so i think potentially converting everything will end up too difficult.
I've created a regular wall type and made a custom wall sweep for now, so at least i can do a set out plan and dimension, but it's really not ideal, and i have to manually divide the wall into 1200mm panels.
Almost works, but doors don't cut mullions, so i have a base track through my doors now.
Create a curtain grid for one segment at the sides of your door. Delete the mullions below the door and on each side. Use join geometry to to join the wall panels around the door and remove the line between them.
