Base cabinet symbolic lines not showing in some base cabinets

I have a sample of a few cabinets created by another family builder from 2008 and is attached to this thread. These are standards cabinets used by a owner for all thier interior fit up so they should be behaving properly in plan.

A four drawer cabinet shows the symbolic lines in Plan under the countertop where a 3 drawer and Base Patient Prep do not. Turn on off wireframe setting to see what I mean. We shuldn't use Overrides or wireframe to get these to display so why one and not the other works as expected is odd.

Tried making new Symbolic lines to no avail.

Any suggestions?

David

Ok, here it goes. I had a good look at the different families. I opened the families in the family editor and had a look around. No clear suspects.

I started deleting components and look at results in the project. When I removed the grips I started to see changes. So something is happening in the grips.

Had a look at the grip/pull family

The grip (face based) has a reference line away from the model of the grip.

Examining cabinet 4 with the symbolic line visible

Examining cabinet 3 drawer with the symbolic line not visible

So in the 3 drawer family the grip is pointing 'down' and in the 4 drawer 'pointing' up.

So the conclusion is that when grip pointing up part of the cabinet (family) is sticking out above the countertop and thus symbolic lines become visible

When the grip is pointing downward the whole cabinet is below the countertop and therefore not visible.

The other objects do not make use of the grips and are below countertop, thus invisible.

Great observation by Louis, by the way!

Without flipping the hardware somehow.  Just add a model line under <Invisible Lines> category on the Top of Counter reference plane and that should fix the visibility of the cabinet when loaded.

Thank you kindly Toan. The method of using model lines <invisible lines> was going to be a workaround. Louis did tear into to get to the crux of the issue.

Thanks again,

Just had this issue resurface... in checking the visibility graphics, for some reason our default plan view templates had the "Plan Rep - Below" option turned off for the Casework category. Turning this back on resolved the issue: VG_Casework_PlanRepBelow.png
