Hey everyone,
I am modelling a somewhat complex Skylight family in Revit. They are big prefab concrete units with specific shapes that I have modelled by subtracting void forms from a solid box extrusion:
When I load the family into my project, I want it to cut the concrete wall that it is embedded in. I would also like it to cut the roof that it sits on/ penetrates. Normally, I would do this by pasting in place the extrusion in the family editor, and changing it to a void, resulting in a perfect overlap of solid geometry and void. This is not working, though, because the void reverts to the box extrusion that I modelled before subtracting the triangular shaped voids to make the form of the skylight.
Does anyone have experience in solving this issue? I really just need to 'bake' the voids into the solid geometry so that I can paste it in place and turn it to a void.
I hope this makes sense! Thanks for your help!
Nick
Is the Void in the Family UNATTACHED and is "Cuts with Void when Loaded" checked?
Doesn't sound like it.
Two Voids - one cutting in Family ("Attached") and one not cutting in Family ("Unattached). Check the box next to "Cut with Void When Loaded" . In Project, use the Cut Geometry tool to attach the Void (cut something).
FWIW: it will only cut System Families in the Project. Not Loadable ones in the Project.
