Background Image Revit 2018

Is it possible to use background images as floor plans to model the exact size of a building?

I have a floor plan that is to scale, and already drawn, and I want to use it while building in Revit 2018.

The problem is when I bring in the image, I cannot use any of the architecture, structural tabs in Revit.

I come from a Maya and Modo workflow where one is able to use Image Planes, and Backdrop images to aid one in modeling, but I am new to Revit and don't understand how to achieve the same process for modeling.

What is the best way to achieve this result?

Any helpful information would be of great value.

Thanks,

Christopher

Yes. Insert the image in a floor plan view, scale it to the correct full scaled dimension, and model over it. You may need to switch back and forth between wireframe/hidden/shaded mode during the process.

Hi

If you don't want the hassle of scaling it wrong and visibility etc..

then just follow this procedure

1. Insert image in " AutoCAD" file..

2. Scale it ..in units "meters " or "mm", and make sure the image is scaled .

3. Link this CAD to Revit floor plan..

( You can put the CAD file in background or foreground as per your convenience.. and Wireframe mode will help you

do the modelling )

Cheers!
