hello guys

I need to create a roof which is irregular shaped see below picture. A) how do i get my roof to have the flat section at the top? it currently comes to a point and B how do i then offset that flat section so its not central. I tried inputting the angle of the slope for each 3 sides as they all different ( i thought this would build it) but it wouldn't let me build the roof.Any ideas?

Would you mind adding a plan view to see roof's footprint? Makes it easier to post a screencast showing you all you need to know instead of replying with a bunch of "if or when you do this then you do that"

cheers

Generally you can change the Cutoff Level to adjust the top elevation.

You have different slopes on this roof. So define those slopes correctly and Revit will calculate the apex accordingly. As far as creating a flat section, sketch another closed boundary line that is offset to the inside of the outer closed sketch boundary that defines the slopes.  Both boundaries are drawn in the same sketch mode.  Do not define a slope for any of the inside sketch boundary lines. Make sure inner and outer sketched boundaries are separate from one another and both are closed loops. Then you can create a separate flat roof to fill the void area created.

However, the flat roof will most likely have a minor slope for drainage; it won't be built perfectly flat. So, instead of not defining a slope for the inside boundary lines, you may want to define a 1/4" per foot slope for those sketch lines. This way, you'll get a monolithic roof from one sketch, instead of doing two separate roofs.

If you add an Image of the error message you are getting or type the full message, it would be easier to understand what the Problem is and suggest how to fix it...

For instance:

If you are using the Cutoff Parameter to acheive that Roof...sometimes the dimensions/scale of the Roof's footprint is not suitable for the desired slope, the Roof would  fall under the Cutoff Level and revit gives an error that it cannot make the Roof and it will be deleted

So please post the complete error message...or wait on the guessing game to begin

Good Luck
