Description: I am placing floor joists which are connected to beams via joist hangers. I am modeling these joist hangers and would like to dimension them at the code requirement of 16" on center.
Objective: Dimension objects based on a given parameter, similar to the EQ automatic dimension, but with a given value.
Known Work-around: Dimension objects manually.

I'm not totally following you. Sounds like you are using Dimensions to control the Hanger Spacing in the Project. Why don't you nest your SHARED Joist Hanger Family into a Line-Based Family Template and Array it. Number of Joist Hangers in the Array is based on the Spacing (e.g. 16") and the Length of the Line pulled in the Project. So: Length/Spacing=Number of Joist Hangers.
Example:

Do you know where I can go to figure out how this is done?
There is a bunch of tutorials on-line. Just Google "Line-Based Array".
edit (that was a bad example).
Post your Joist Hanger and I'll do one for you .
Here's another one I found on-line:
I've attached the joist hanger I am using.
What Version?
Am I reading this right? 2008? I don't have 2008. My family would not be of any value to you.
Oh, good! Yeah, I was just working on it. Guess you don't need it now.
Yeah, it's a valuable feature/method. It has a lot of other applications as well. For instance, you put Symbolic Line Work and Text into Line-Base Arrays as well.
Enjoy!
