Autodesk Feedback and Active Participation in Revit Development

Dear members of the Autodesk Revit community,

I hope everyone is okay. I would like to raise an issue that has been the subject of discussion among several Revit users, and that I consider crucial for the continuous improvement of this fundamental tool for our industry.

The effort that many of us dedicate daily to developing projects using Revit is remarkable. However, I have noticed a certain frustration regarding Autodesk's apparent lack of response to suggestions and requests for improvements made by the community over the years.

In particular, there have been recurring demands since 2017, such as the need for functionality that allows the union of elements that are part of links. This is just one example, but many of us certainly have other suggestions and fixes that would be beneficial to all Revit users, that much is obvious.

My question to the community and potentially Autodesk staff who may be following this forum is: is Autodesk truly taking into account the suggestions and concerns we have expressed? At what level?

I believe that more active participation from the Autodesk development team here on the forum could be extremely valuable. This would not only demonstrate a closer commitment to users' needs, but would also allow for more effective collaboration in the search for solutions and improvements.

Let's take advantage of this space to discuss our experiences and ideas about how we can make this collaboration more effective. After all, we all share the same goal of making Revit an even more powerful and efficient tool for all of us.

I hope this discussion is productive and that, together, we can contribute to the constant evolution of Revit.

Yours sincerely,

Erik Hianke

@erikhianke

I'm a structural engineer using Revit and I totally agree with you.

Revit upgrades speed is very slow for such a huge company  and I still have problems in doing fundamental tasks in Revit.

They are basically two communities with the same goal...

That may be true for it's users, but not for Autodesk - their primary goal is making money. Has been from the start in the early 80's, where a group of men where pondering on how to make money. Creating software it was.

As long as there's no serious competition for Revit, Autodesk probably won't speed up development. And even if there was competition, it remains to be seen if Autodesk would speed up development or just let it die off, since they have a plethora of software titels making money for them.

I will keep speaking up about my needs in Revit and I ask you to do the same my friend :erhobene_Faust::faust_nach_rechts_gerichtet:

Don't forget you and your boss and all of us engineers are paying money each year to see developments. we should be united.

I will have to agree with you, indeed! Either competition arises or people migrate to another BIM software.

It's normal for software or game companies to relax when they feel at the top of the service hierarchy.

Autodesk HAS been implementing new features from the IDEAS board for a number of years.

Yes. Just look at the new features lists for each year and they note which featuires were from suggestions/concerns.
