Autodesk Bug with View Template CAD Layers Not sticking after Rebooting Revit

I've been turning off specific CAD file layers repeatedly within our view template now and they keep appearing after sync'ing and restarting the model. I'm using cloud model (Document Management).

  1. I've tried to recreate the view template from scratch.
    • Oddly, this worked while the view template name was different. Once I renamed back to the original view template name, the problem reverted immediately regardless of sync.
  2. I've tried to save off the cloud and re-upload which worked for a day. After a few days, the CAD layer settings reverted again.

This obviously appears to be a bug... but can't seem to figure out where it's coming from.

Has anyone experience this issue and found a solution.

So you are saying that the "bug" happens when you name the Template as particular name; otherwise it's fine.  What's the name? I want to avoid it.

Essentially we have had our view templates controlling the CAD layer visibility with no problem until a few months ago. At some point after this was working for over a year, the CAD settings in the template can still be changed, but they don't stick.

I can't say exactly why or when they revert, but it's not long. I've tested making the change, sync'ing, then closing and reopening which works fine and maintains the changes.... but after a day or in some cases hours later the view template layer settings revert. So they are essentially in a fixed CAD Layer state in the cloud.

I hope that was clear...

I've been seeing a lot of similar issues from others recently.

Are you using BIM360?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I've done some tests with linking in a brand new CAD file with a different name and it seems to be working, however the CAD files are linked in on several views, so it's not an easy task to create a new link, reinsert into all the views and then update the view template for 30 levels.

If anyone has any successful resolutions to this without having to relink, please let me know.

Thank you

Why not just reload the link from a different path?

...you do understand that multiple instances of the same Link all reference one Link?

Your suggestion seems easy enough to at least test. I'll give it a try and see if it works.

...regarding your second question, yes.
