you don't directly open .dwg files in revit only .rvt, .rfa, .adsk,.rte, rft, you can import .dwg into your project
create a new project and go to the insert tab and click on import cad file or you can link the .dwg file into revit by clicking on the mange links button on the insert tab on the ribbon
revit isn't autocad
