Hi everyone
I've made a family for a double socket outlet where I can choose from a drop down list (family type parameter) which element I want on each side. The family contains multiple nested families so I get the correct data for each element in my schedule. The socket consists of 3 things: the base (in dutch: sokkel), the finishing set (in dutch: afwerkingsset) and the finishing plate (in dutch: afdekplaat). The base and the finishing set are also nested in their own family to limit the overexcessive need of different types.
For the family itself everything works perfectly fine when I use the family inside a project. I tried to put annotation symbols inside of my nested families but apparently it doesn't work when it is nested to 2 levels. I assume there isn't a workaround for this either?
Now my question is how to easy associate my annotation symbols to my drop down list. The only option I can think of is to add a lot of yes/no parameters for each visibility but then I also need to do this for my nested families. So actually this isn't the way I want to do this...
Is there a more easy way to make this work? Can you associate two labels (family type parameters) to each other some way? Or associate my family type parameter to a yes/no parameter for the annotation symbol?
In the end I want to choose for the correct element in my drop down list and that the annotation symbol shows automatically correct.
I've put the family in attachment so you can check it yourself.
Thanks in advance for your help and tips!
Hi I opened your file and I can only see 1 level of family, do you have a reference image of what exactly you were trying to do?
It that what you suggested or create some sort of primitive dictionary which would swap the apnnotations based on the selected Finish Plate family
Say you have 3 generic annotations and 3 Finish plate. This would require
The annotations will switch on and off based on what the user selects in D
GA nested into the child wont show up in model but if neseted into the host they do. That said, you might also be able to use family type for the parameter x y z.
The alternative to all the above would be either use lookUP tables or use dynamo. but those are two separate topics which I would not be able to help with on this post
