I opened Revit yesterday and I was very surprised to find that my interface had changed to Asian characters, to say the least. Read that the latest update would fix that, applied it, seemed to work, so far so good. I am working today and needed to open another instance of Revit, the Asian characters are back. So now that solution won't work, there aren't any more updates available. I have downloaded the install files to re-install and I still have a working (English) version of Revit open.
But are you Serious? This has been an issue for over a year. I spend 10's of thousands of dollars on this software and this is as good as it gets? I'm upset. I really hope reinstalling fixes this.

...and to add insult to injury, I click on the wrong button and the online help file comes up, and guess what, It's in Asian characters also!!!
Slow Clap....... Unbelievable!
Hi @Anonymous,
Apologies for the issue and definitely understand the frustration. This was addressed in Update 5 for Release 2 of Revit 2016, as noted here. It seems like you have already found this judging by your post. A repair install or complete reinstall should fix the problem.
As for the online help. I guessing your mean the AKN pages. You should be able to translate any AKN page by using the translation widget. This widget is 'sticky' so once you change it back to English, all your pages will show up in English. You just have to click the English button to go back to English and the page is automatically translated back.
Note: there is some localization of some products and AKN pages, which happen if your computer is set to another country or you are located in another country. For example: if you are in Germany, you see the German community and German AKN by default. The English default is under a .com URL.

And it happened again... It is absolutely related to the error messages I just received in the post linked below.
An uninstall, reboot and reinstall yielded me the error below. I used the 'Install Now' option. I am downloading the installer this time.
Exact same results. Plus this error. I made sure the only thing I was installing was Revit. It looks to me like I cant install Revit 2016 under Revit 2017. Because of Bim360 which I made sure was unchecked. Thanks a lot!!!
Uninstalling all of the redundant software from the 2017 install and that I hadn't elected to install with 2016 anyway, finally gave me a successful install. Who's in charge of that **** anyway?
Hi @Anonymous,
Apologies for the trouble. As it seems like you already learned, the BIM 360 add-ins were already installed on the your computer, as described here. To get around this, you would simply need to uninstall conflicting versions of BIM 360. I also recommend checking out the virtual agent for installations in the future, as it uses a different download method. Glad to hear you got it installed though. Let me know if anything else arises, as I am happy to lend a hand.

Thank you for your reply, I was glad I figured it out also. But what about the root of the problem? My link to another post above is the error that then causes the Asian character problem. And so the Asian character problem was not fixed in patch 5 or whatever. Please advise. thanks.
