Arraying a void on a Solid

Hello, this is a continuation of a previous thread but the author had already accepted a solution

I created a line based family and nested a void hosted on a face into it. I want to be able to array it which i can (Barely) when changing its length but i also want to be able to change the height but the arrays lose their parameters.

could anyone take a look?

Can you give a screen shot of what is happening and what you are looking to accomplish.  I'm not understanding your issue.

If you have the file open, change the 'height' parameter. The first void i loaded in is constrained properly, but the rest are not.

If not i'll post pictures tomorrow.

How the family is and when i change its 'height'

The trick is to start the array with 2 instances first, constrain the second instance to a ref plane, then change number of the array to whatever you need.  The rest will be constrained properly.  If you don't do this the array will step up or down when you change the height of the host.

And here what happened when I didn't constraint using the above method.

Delete the entire Array in Host.

Open up your Void family.

Pin the upper most Ref. Plane and make it the Defines Origin Plane.

Reload Void into Host Family.

Position the first Void where you want it, and lock it ONLY at it's TOP Ref. Plane which you want it to Array along.

Array the Void X 2 and then Lock the second Void to the TOP Ref. Plane which you want it to Array along.

It should behave correctly now.
