Hi everyone,
I have a large project which I would like to import into Revit from Archicad. I first had the IFC file from the architects but all the elements are just importing into Revit as Generic Elements which is no good for me as I need to work with Revit wall elements. I now have the Archicad model from the architects and I am attempting to make a better IFC export but I still run into problems.
To explain what I have tried, I have the up-to-date Archicad Add-In for IFC Imoport and Export in Revit.
I also have looked into the IFC translator settings in Archicad and tried to use the Revit Structure Export translator when saving the IFC but still, all the elements come as Generic Objects.
So another thing I have tried is I have copied some of the custom wall types from the actual project, into a new project. After doing that and making a quick buildup of various wall types in the new project and I export a model with the Revit Structure Export translator, and it all imports into Revit just fine. All the objects appear as Revit elements and it's what I want.
I did another test by copying roughly 10 different walls from the actual project into a new project space. Then I added a few more walls which I drew myself and I exported again. The results were that the walls I copied from the project were Generic Elements and the walls I drew myself (the same types) come as Revit elements.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be the issue? Why do these walls that have been previously drawn by the architects not want to export the same way as a new wall of the same type in the same model.
Thank you in advance
