Applying fire rated hatch to walls with filter in fine view

Hi All,

I Have problem when I try to apply fire rating hatch pattern to a wall through a filter, the pattern does not align with the element, even though I have tried changing the pattern to align with view, align with element and keep readable and none worked.

I want to use filter so I have control over where to show my fire rated walls.

Filter is any wall type that has 1 hr fire rating then apply fire rating pattern to it.

when I use coarse view the pattern shows fine and it is aligned with the element but when it is changed to medium or fine then everything goes south.

to summarize, I want to apply hatch pattern by filter to a wall in "fine" view and my pattern to be aligned with my wall direction.

Why don't you override Walls category to Coarse for those Medium and Fine views?

@Sahay_R

Why would you want to do that?  Are you going to have different brick material for different fire rating conditions?  Same with metal stud, for example, you don't use different type of studs when the fire rating changes.

@ToanDN - good point. When the hatch is set up for fire rating, then it can be told to follow the object. @Soroush_Bahrani - ignore the first couple of steps in my screenshot.

ToanDN, that is a good solution but I wanted to show my walls in details. for example a metal studs walls with gypsum on each side.

I found the solution actually. the key is to set the original material of your wall (all the layers) to be aligned with the element as well. so in my case the sand hatch of my gypsum wall and the studs (which is basically white, but i had to create a new material with line spacing set at 1000mm so it has some sort of material to be set to align with the element) was set to be aligned with element.

Thanks for the coarse/medium material overwrite though. I had totally forgot about it.

ToanDN, great work in figuring out the cause of the fill pattern bug but why is it Autodesk does not bother to fix these glitches in the software updates?!? There are far too many of these kind of "work arounds" that seem to never get permanently fixed in the new releases and just keep giving this software such a bad wrap.

How did you get this filter/pattern for the wall?
