Apartment and Room Number

Hi,

I've created custom doors with Apartment Numbers as separate families. Apartment Number family is Generic model and it is comprised of a rectangular extrusion and a Text Model. This family is loaded in a Door Family that is also loaded in a project. How do I manage to link the Room Tag number with the Model Text in the door so every time I change the Room Tag, the Model Text representing the Apartment Number changes automatically. Or vice-versa. Thanks!

You cannot use the system Room number because it is a text parameter and the model text is a multi-line text parameter. They are different. You need to create a new shared multi-line text parameter and use it to label the model text in the family, then load the same parameter in the project and assign to Rooms category.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I followed your instructions but can't seem to get it to work. What I want to achieve is this: when I'm in the project and place a door, I want the apartment no. that is modelled as a separate family (model text) to change (as an instant) as the ROOM TAG that the door it is placed in.

Below you have 2 pictures, what I want is the no. 231 to be shown in the model text (4B, it is backwards i know).

Thanks!

Yes I have missed an important point: There is still no correlation between the shared multi-line parameter Room Number and the Model text (Room signage). You would have to pair them up semi-automatically using Dynamo, or manually enter the value for the Room sign/Door family for each room (in such case, you wouldn't even need to add the parameter to the Rooms category).
