Any Revit Tutorials regarding 3D wall insulations?

wall insulation detailwall insulation detail

Hello every one,

I'm working as an architect in an Oil and gas company, our job is to outfit the interior for off-shore accommodation platforms, our company is planning to shift to revit in a couple of months.

I am new to Revit and I have been searching for tutorials regarding 3D wall insulations for  almost 2 weeks now, so far I haven't got any luck. if anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

I have attached a Photo & a PDF regarding my questions.

thanks & regards,

JP

1. Add the insulation as a layer in the Wall Properties>Edit Type>Structure>Edit>Add Material>Rigid Insulation, etc.

2. Materials --Revit Materials have metadata that can be edited inside the Material Editor. Manage Tab>Materials

3. Because the insulation is contained in a Wall layer, openings such as doors and windows will cut it.

If you need ONLY the insulation, create a new Wall type that has only insulation Material.

JP..... I'm relatively new to revit also, about 1 year steady.  My advice may not be the best solution, but this is what I would try if I were in your shoes...I would look at your insulation based on it's application.  Where it's wrapped around a column, you'll have to place it there in a different manner than where it is attached to a wall.

1.  In some cases, you can add your "layer" of insulation by creating an extrusion. (at the columns)

2.  In some cases you could create it as a sweep.

3.  You could also modify the existing wall by adding the layer of insulation to it.  That would probably be the best way to cover 90% of your needs.  This way, it would behave as a part of the wall when you place a window.

When you add the insulation as a layer to the wall, you will have an opportunity to assign properties, but you may still need to ad the words to your details.... I hadn't dealt with that yet.
