Annotation and Text Preview Not Showing

I am working on a project in 2013 and have begun to experience issues throughout all locals where annotation components and text leaders are not showing up until placed. Previously, they would show up as a preview of where you would move them before placement. Today, both annotation components and leaders are not visible unitl placement which is frustrating members of my team. I have audited and compressed the central file with no luck. Anyone else have this problem in the past? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

This happens if your current Workset is not visible in the view. You'd also notice this when you cut sections.

so what do I have to do to make it appear again?

If that's the issue, you need to make your current Workset visible in the View you're working in, or change your current Workset to one that is "Visible in all views".

i make it visible by clicking the box when I first open the project right? but in my case, I dont have the option to click the box. Is there a different way?

You can check the checkbox in the Worksets dialog box.  I highlighted where you'd check it, in the attached png.

Under the "Collaborate" Ribbon, it's the first button on the left, "Worksets". If you don't have Worksets enabled in the project, this isn't the solution, though.
