angle parameter within nested family

hi, this is what I want:

  • I need to creat a family with a door panel  that rotate on is pivot with a parameter
  • I need also a small panel on the door that rotate on its pivot indipendently

What i did:

  • I created the door panel A
  • I created the small panel B
  • I nested the small panel in the door panel and it works, I can rotate it
  • when I create the family inserting the door panel A+B the small panel doesn't rotate anymore.

I tried other options, but still i don't understand how to have this movement indipendent from each other.

Thanks for helping me!

Make the angle parameter in the Panel A family instance-based.

In the parent Door family, create an angle parameter to control the angle of Panel B.

Select the Panel A family instance in the parent Door family, and, on the Properties palette, find the instance-based parameter that controls the angle of Panel B, and associate it with the angle parameter you just created in the parent Door family.  You can now control the angle of Panel B from that angle parameter in the parent Door family.

Just posted this Family for another member.  Maybe it will help you too. The source Family is nested 3 deep. In other words, A (e.g. Source) is nested into B and then B is nested into C (e.g. Parent).  Parameters are associated along the way.

Yes, sorry guys, my fault, too impatient to test the family that I forgot to associate the angle parameter of the source family.

I feel ashamed🙈

this is what I am trying to achive, but still I have some problems:

PaoloGmb_0-1717424913984.png

I've made the 2 panels in a family with an angle to open and close from 0 to 90 and it works.

The nested family has another angle which control the opening of the two panels together from 0 to 180 and it works, but I need to controll the opening of the two panels, whiwh I can't if the parameter is by instance.

Any suggestion?

Thank you!!
