alignment to floor layers

This has been bugging me...probably something stupid, so I am hoping someone can clue me in.

In the attached file there area two floor assemblies one has been modified to have a slope on top and the other is flat. In section view I should be able to align to any of the floor layers, but in the flat assembly Revit only allows me to align to the finished surfaces and in the sloped assembly I can align to finished surfaces and to the sloping layers, but not to the line at the bottom of the joist/top of drywall.  The cursor does not highlight when I roll over these layers and it won't highlight with the tab key eitherUntitled.png

Thank you for the question @umbachdw!

It looks like this is related to the particular floor you are working with DUA Int.2X10.

When I change this to Steel Bar Joist 14" - VCT on Concrete, then I can align to interior layer of the floor.

I compared the Structure settings between the two families and found that if you turn off the Variable option for the Structure [1] | Structure, Wood Joist/Rafter Layer | 0’ 9 ¼” layer, then you can align to the interior layers of the flat floor.

Note: Turning off the variable option does change the floor with the sloped surface so that the bottom is no longer flat. You may want to setup a separate Family Type for the sloped floors (if you want to be able to align to the interior layers).
