Aligning elements on center

I know how to use the alignment tool to line up edges of two elements in a drawing, but is there a way to make sure that two elements of unequal length are aligned on center with each other?

Are they Families in the Project.  You can snap to the "Is Reference" Ref. Planes that are in the Family.

Well, I believe they are families. I am talking about drawing a floor that has 7 levels and is wedge shaped. I am having to draw each of the 7 levels individually then arrange them together so to speak to make a giant stair like floor. When I get that done I will create two isles if steps traversing the floor to make a stadium like room full of seats. It's a rather oddly constructed movie theater and I only have a 2 page sketch giving me the rise and run of all the levels. It has bee a real pain so I appreciate the help.

I should mention I am doing this in Revit LT, so some features you use may not be available to me.

Thanks

Bill

I remember you Bill.  I think I remember the theater layout too.  Didn't you post it here before?  Anyways, I'm not understanding where this aligning issue coming in.  Sounds like you are trying to align elements of unequal length to their longitudinal centers.  Can you post a photo or something showing what you are describing?

Yes, you have helped me before, and I am quite grateful. I have attached a screen shot here showing 6 of the 7 levels of the floor. I deleted all the walls for now, and keep in mind I have "trim up" these floor sections so they all fit together like a puzzle. Other than the run and rise dimensions I only have two width dimensions for the floor. I have the width of level 6 and the width of level 2. I have to figure out the "pitch" of the walls by doing the math..... it's been fun, but I need to have a talk with the guy that does these sketches.

You can't align floors like you would with families with center reference planes.

Here is how I would do it: draw a reference plane or grid where the center is and MOVE each of the floors snapping a midpoint of the edge to the plane. It's not as convenient as ALIGN but it gets the job done.

Bill, you can also place a center point directly in the Floor Sketch Boundary, by simply Splitting the Sketch Boundary Line in half.  You can then snap and align to this Split Point.
