The project I'm working on is not rectilinear and includes lights that are arrayed along a curve. I'm trying to have an aligned dimension string notating the center points of can lights but cannot seem to figure it out.
Drawing a detail line circle on top of the fixtures is one workaround, but doesn't seem efficient. I tried drawing a model line circle within the lighting family and turned on Center Mark Visible, but this doesn't seem to solve it.
@ToanDN @barthbradley any ideas?
I'm not clear what you are trying to do. Do you have a screenshot or something to illustrate what you are describing?
I would like to have a dimension string from the angled wall on the left. The green lines approximate the reference planes of the can light fixture.
Draw a reference line from the center of the line. In project, place dim from a grid line first and TAB to pick the end of the ref line in the family for the second witness.
The OOTB fixture works right OTB without doing anything.
Why don't you use a Scope Box to rotate the View to make the angled wall perpendicular in the View, and then pull your dimension string?
Thanks for the replies @barthbradley and @ToanDN. The project is set up on a radial grid which makes things a bit more complicated. The snip I posted is a call out plan view that is puts the centerline of the overall space page north, the resulting perimeter walls are still angled / curved.
After some testing, I'm going to use a symbolic line in the lighting family and snap to the end that starts in the center.
Honestly, if placement location is critical, I would try to locate them from some perpendicular reference point that can be found in the field. Sounds like the envelop in curved, so what about an interior partition?
