Align Project and Topography

Hi,

Please can someone help me with my project.  I have ( after drawing the building ) imported a topography but need to lift the building up to the right height.  When I relocate the project to the height it moves the topography as well.  I've tried to see where else I might be able to change settings but no luck, guess I'm not looking in the right area!

Also, as the Topo just gives you the lumps and bumps, how do I drape a map over the surface to indicate the roads, etc?  I have a mpa imported but its just a flat drawing at the project base level of zero.  Surely I can lift it up to follow the shape of the land?

Please try to relocate the project with shared coordinates.

You can try the topo align tool from the app store.

• Open an elevation and click on the Manage tab at the "Project Location" on manage click on "Position" tab and choose "Relocate Project"
  Click on your elevation line and move to the required height i.e 50' in the Z direction
  In your type properties, edit your "level family" and change the elevation base to "shared" this will change you current 0' 0" to 100' 0"
• In your element Properties dialog box, click Edit/New. and set the elevation base parameter to Shared.
• Do this also for your "spot elevations" select one spot elevation and click edit type, then go to "elevation origin" and change from project to "shared" this will update all your spot elevations since they're a family.

• To change the elevation of a project using the Specify Coordinates at a Point command
• While in an elevation view, click Tools menu > Shared Coordinates > Specify Coordinates at a Point.
• Click a point near Level 1.
• In the Specify Shared Coordinates dialog box, set the elevation.
• Link your toposurface at an elevation relative to Level 1 of the project.
• Label the contours.
• Right-click a contour label. Click View Properties.
• In the Element Properties dialog box, click Edit/New.
• Set the elevation base parameter to Shared.

If you move the clipped Project Base Point then everything will move along with it, including the topo.  I would create the topo in a separate file, link it in, move to place, establish and publish the shared coordinates back to the topo link file.

To create roads and other site elements, you can try Site Designer.  I have zero experience with it so don't ask me how lol.

I've worked on doing this for about 2-3 days and cannot figure out why it has to be so difficult.  Maybe I'm not hitting the right buttons but it just makes sense to me that there is a command to change my project elevation, set the elevation, and anything else that needs to be done should be trivial or done through a wizard.  If I have everything built at 0' elevation and need it later changed to another elevation, it shouldn't be rocket science to do so.

Granted, I'm new to Revit so I'm sure there are things that I don't comprehend yet but it still shouldn't be this hard to do such a simple task.

It shouldn't be a rocket science. You can have the 0 elevation reported as something else without having to move you actual model. Is it what you want?
