Hi There,
When we create a different project north to True north and bring in a CSV (topo surface) it comes in the wrong area, this has us baffled? Should we create surface before we create a project north? I really didnt think it should make a difference?
Maybe there is something obvious I have missed....appreciate any input.
Thanks
Allan
Could you explain what you mean you say the "CSV (topo surface) it comes in the wrong area"? Whether you in Project North or True North, the CSV file should place the points at exactly the same location.
...can you post the file and tell us the units?
Hi There ,
Yes the units are meters, I've done this many times before but this time and when a Project north has been rotated I cant get the csv to place in the original location....
The CSV is a x,y,z file of points from Civil3d exported as a csv file.
Got me stumped.
If i import scv before project north has been rotated all is sweeet, but as soon as I say rotate it to alligned wall.....then no i cant get it in the same location.
appreciate your help.
thanks
Allan
HI Mate,
I have attached the csv and the 2 revit files one with a project rotation and the other without.
Thanks
Allan
Do you usually set Project North non-orthogonal to the view?
Reason I ask, is because it's unconventional. The CSV file works fine if Project North is Orthogonal to the view.
No this is merely a sample file to show that csv file comes in 2 locations, correct without a project north set and inncorrrect when rotated project north.....
seems crazy....
thanks
Allan
If Project North is Orthogonal to the view, the CSV lands in the exact same spot, even if the view is set to True North. I just tested it 3 times; inserting the CSV onto a Site Plan oriented to Project North (orthogonal), and then oriented to True North (Angle to True North=323.66), and then oriented to Project North again. All 3 topos are stacked on top of each other.
Thanks for that., any chance you can screen cast it?
Did you manage to get what was happening to me, by the way Revit 2017.
Appreciate your help.
Cheers
Allan
Same here. Topo is inserted to the same location WITHIN one file regardless of the view set to Project or True North. Obviously they are different from one file to another but I don't think anyone need to question that.
Ok still cant get it....
see screencast.
Started new project. inserted csv, changed project north to align to wall, reinserted csv, lands in a different place........
am i silly or something is a miss.....
Topos inserted BEFORE and AFTER you rotated Project North will land on different locations, as they should be.
