Aecosim IFC imports for revit 2016 wall failure

Hi IFC Import

Seem to be having an issue with ifc import

Created a wall in aecosim with a window.

OK

Made  IFC file then opened in revit

The cut in the wall disappers and the wall non standard family wall.

I can see the items in solibri but Revit can't bring in the wall in as normal

but seem to be random as some wall are ok with a cut

I have attached photos.

Seem to be random as some cut wall can come across but they are all view able in solibri

Any help appreciated

Also attached IFC Files.

Steven

Tried linking the file and  binding to the project

It produced this. See image

Revit Wall More.png

OK A step forward but still a unknown wall.

I feel I am missing something

I know I'm thick but i can't really  find a lot of documentation on the process to import ifc files

I get the impression IFC are only for linking and reference. mmmm.

Again any help muchly appreciated

Steven

I do not have Aecosim program so I can's tell if any Export options available.

I linked the IFC in Revit, bind the link and it became a group, ungroup and delete the unwanted piece of model from the wall.

Hey.
Happy to find you.
Right.
Yeh I know it objects are grouped. Cool but the item details are custom family. But seems a bit random because I used some other cut walls into revit and they become the normal revit wall external. So what so different from this wall. I know its a ifc. So how do i import an ifc. How does the wall get mapped to a particular type.
How do I change the custom wall to a revit wall or even wall family I have created. IFC is an important format. Its got international in its name, so that's got to mean it's important. Remember thunderbirds, international rescue.
Do you know how to map families. I can't find any documentation.
Sorry for rant but was getting a bit lonely as it seem everybody was sort of ignoring IFC.
So any idea how to change the family???
Awesome!
Your great.
Any help muchly appreciated.

It is still a Wall after I got the IFC in Revit.

I don't think you can change an IFC wall to an editable Revit wall.  But I would love to hear otherwise from someone with more experience with IFC.

If there are any, they should be the settings from the source program authoring the IFC.

I can change the wall to a different IFC wall type from th eProperties (external to Basic).  Thing is it doesn't change a thing under the IFC parameter, or its geometry.  Nothing.

It aligns with my take with IFC is that they are linked in for reference, not to become editable.
