Adding patterns to sub categories

Hi All,

I have a curtain panel which is made up of three sub categories, glazing, solid and a reflective layer.

Is there any way of been able to add a colour pattern to these- in the image below it seems to be blacked out.

I want to be able to colour each element differently in elevation.

As an alternative I thought of filtering by sub category, but there is no option to do that, or I could colour using the material colour potentially? All ideas welcomed!panel2.PNGpanel.PNG

you cannot apply pattern in subcategory.

Solution

In family apply a material to each subcategory.

Apply patterns to materials.

Change the Panels' Surface Pattern/Color under its Material's Graphics Settings and/or Override Graphics in View by Element.

If you don't want to create different materials for each type and you just want to change the appearance of them, I think it would be better to create a filter than override the graphics in the view. However, a filter won't recognize subcategories, so you will need to choose another way to differentiate between them. Maybe create different types all with the same material. But with the filter you can change their appearance in certain views.
