Today I was helping one of the Interior Designers add human figure to an elevation view to add scale. Rather than have her endure RPC entourage families, I took it upon myself to create filled region families by -
1) creating the filled region as a detail item and nesting it into an Entourage family. Inserting this family was a pain because reference planes parallel to the elevation needed to be there to host the family
2) switched the family in Step 1 to a Generic Model - no difference. Worked just as well (or rather, just as badly)
3) I finally broke and removed the nested detail items, saving them as Detail Item families. They work in elevations like a charm.
Even though I have found a workaround that works, I would like to know if there is, possibly, a more elegant solution to this problem.
Thank you.

What you are doing is adding entourage elements to furnish the view, not the model, so using Detail families is appropriate. I would do the same.
So there was no other option?
Wow. I feelz schmaaartt.
