Add new area type?

How can I add a new area type here so I can color by area type in my color fill legend?

Not that - see the image. I have made additional area types but I want to make additional area types (confusing right?) under that "other" tab in the properties of an area which allows me to divide color fill legends by those types. From what I've researched its not possible - you are stuck with those default options which just seems strangely restrictive

you have to create a project parameter for areas and input your area types manually.

Hey, this was from a year ago but i hit the same issue, so thought i'd elaborate on the solution given for those it wasnt immediately clear.

To follow the solution you need to create a new project parameter from the manage tab.

If you create a project parameter within the Area category, make it an instance parameter, parameter type is text, and group it under 'other' then you'll be able to create custom area names that can be scheduled and coloured to suit your project.
