Acquiring Coordinates from a point cloud in Revit 2019?

It has previously been possible to acquire coordinates from a pointcloud in Revit.

We previously created a Revit model from a cloud that was did not have real world coordinates. The cloud has since been coordinated and we need to shift the uncoordinated model to the coordinated cloud.

We have been able to do this in previous versions of Revit (we have mostly been using Revit 2018).

The process we use is as follows: Open the (uncoordinated) Revit model; link in the (coordinated) cloud origin to origin, move the cloud to the Revit model manually, then acquire the coordinates from the link.

This is the first time we have attempted this in Revit 2019 and we are unable to select the cloud as a link when prompted...

We have tried the reverse process (linking the model to a file with the cloud in it and publishing coordinates) but Revit just crashes out whenever we try to link the model.

All select options are ticked so that isn't the issue either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would do it this way:

• Create a new Revit model, "model 1".
• Insert > point cloud > center to center.
• Manage > Specify coordinates at point > select a known point, and enter values (the author of the cloud or surveyor should have this information)
• Go to another Revit model, "model 2".
• Link Revit > "model 1" > center to center
• Select "model 1" it or rotate it as needed to match elements in "model 2". Then, from the properties window, click on "not shared", and then click on "OK" to acquire coordinates (if you're working in BIM 360 that is the only option available). If you're not working on BIM360, select "acquire...", then OK/reconcile
• Now the coordinates of "model 1" and "model 2" are the same.

Using "Manage --> Specify coordinates at point" does not allow me to pick a point in point cloud.

size of the point cloud file is a factor and the main reason check if this file have it's coordinates as needed before linking it

I did not say a point in the the point cloud, but a point, just a point that serves as a reference. 

I don't have cloud files here to test it, but all this thread is based on the assumption that you can acquire coordinates from the points cloud file, which might not be true. But you can surely acquire coordinates from a Revit model that contains a point cloud.

So after some support sessions with Autodesk support, here are the workaround steps for acquiring coordinates from a point cloud in Revit (that really works!!):
   1. Start a new Revit project and set the project units.
   2. Make the Project base point visible in view.
   3. From Manage > Coordinates > Specify coordinates at point - select the Project base point and fill in the coordinates. It is recommended to use the ones of a survey point used on site, when the laser scan was made.
   4. Link the Point cloud using Positioning > Auto - by Shared coordinates .
   5. Save this project. 

You can later link this project into a Revit model and acquire coordinates from it. Please follow these steps:
   1. Either start a new Revit project and set the project units or open an existing one.
   2. Make the Project base point visible in view.
   3. Link the Revit project containing the Point cloud using Positioning > Auto - Origin to Origin.
   4. From Manage > Coordinates select Acquire coordinates.
   5. Select the linked file from which to copy the coordinates.
   6. The coordinates from the Linked file's Project base point were transferred to the current project base point.

@amir_mizrachi ...which confirms what I was saying, that you don't acquire coordinates from the point cloud, but from a Revit model that contains the point cloud, and where you have specified coordinates at one point.
