Accessing built-in parameter of nested family

I need to access (read) a parameter in a nested family (Height of a structural beam) to set the position of this beam in a host family (composite beam).

Height and other parameters I need are built-in, I cant make then instances. I could create in shared family a instance parameter (_height) and set it by formula (_height= Height) but I dont know how to use a formula setted parameter of the nested family to compute a parameter in host family.

I also created shared parameters in nested family, and set then by functions, but I also dont know how to access then in the host family.

Any Ideas??

It could have been done with shared families should they are not structural framing.  Anyhow, it is a better practice to create composite structural system in the project environment unless they can be done as a truss.

The system is only two beans welded together, and they could be used as columns too. I think structural trusses or just place two beams in project are not the better way.

You mean two beams welded together to create a stronger bigger beam with one analytical line?

Exactly. The welding is just to keep the primitive beams together, this way, the strtuctural properties are twice the properties of the isolated beam. I want to create a family this way to do not have to enter all this information again.
