I have received an old .rvt file. I wish to open it; however, I cannot. I apologize in advance for my ignorance here. I receive this message:
Revit-UnsupportedVersionOlder The file was saved in an old version of Revit which we don't support. Please upgrade this project to Revit 2015 or later.
If I cannot open the file, how can I save it in an updated version?

Are you going to be working on the model, or just viewing/referencing?
If the former, try to open it with the oldest Revit version that you have or you know someone has that can lend a hand. If not, contact Autodesk and they maybe able to help you.
If the latter, try to open (Append) it with Navisworks, save as NWD, then link it in Revit as a Coordination model.
How old? 2009-2013 file or a Revit 7.0 and older?

If it is 2009-2012 post it and I can give it shot with 2014 or 2015.
Older versions wont work I believe. We previously tried with several 4.0 and 6.0 models; the upgrade failed and the models had to be remodeled.

That would be great.
I would be very happy with any format that would allow me to see the files; Sketchup would be my preference; however, I'll accept anything that will work.
Second set of files.
See attached Revit files 2018 and 2022 version
The families are already loaded into the project; hence you can simply select in the project browser >>> Edit or Save as separate .rfs families
