A conversion of one family type value to a shared param value for a BOM

I am toying around with a scenero where I want to convert a family type to a shared BOM value.  Does anyone know of an automatic method to do this because it defeats the purpose of having this param.

This image shows the type of family with its naming. and the shared parameter definition.  I want to have this family name selection go into a field automatically in case I have to change unistrut on the fly, otherwise what good is having an exact match of its assembly name.

I am also showing an image of the assembly so you can get a better idea of the family.  This is an upper support rack  assembly that will support two all-thread rods which is part of another assembly for lower support of cable tray and all of it is based on instance and type parameters.  Instance are easy to convert, but types are not.  There are two clamps on each end the are variable to the distance between the two beams.  Doing this method will lower our dependance of over 1000 possible assemblies and cutting it down to about 10 at the most I would think.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

I can't show the the building assemblies but it very cool.

Never mind, I answered my own question.

Create another text param with the name and change base on the type.

One other question.  Is there any method for have a piece of my assembly to have a unique ID number, in a shared param, and if so how can I otherwise number the placed family with its own unique number so I can include in my tag and numbered in a schedule?  I would to see a item placed with an incrementing number system based on placement.

Asking to much I know, but based on a naming scheme want like for instance the (assembly code-xxxx-x) and attachment to tray system as a sufix.
