The content library alone weighs 70 GB. Should I get that free disk space somehow on my laptop or is there something I don't know? Thanks

That's a confusing message you're seeing on the Install page...

75,1 GB required / 6,24 GB available

I think it's displaying the values in a different format for some reason. You only need 5GB available for Revit. My guess is that it should read 7.51GB required. Either way, you're able to install because the Install button is available

@pietromaltoni

Complete Content Library for Revit 2016  (uncompressed) is 4.2 GB not 75 GB...And considering that the whole REvit software including content library is roughly 6.5 GB on my computer (excluding installation files), I would say that message is a typo mistake which probably Autodesk has to fix ... it should maybe read "75.1 Available / 6.5 Required "

Did you check windows explorer to see how much free disk space you actually have??

Regardless 🙂 having the content library (as well as all working model files on a separate disk or partition is the better option... if you have one or plan to buy one, it will pay it's price off

The Second Screenshot is what I see after pushing on the Install button. Should I unmark the Content Libraries in the Third Screenshot? I have no clue.

I checked my free disk space and it's 6,24 GB as the Revit Installation panel shows, so I don't know what to say :-] I will let you know when I manage to complete the installation. Thanks, guys

Clean up you hard drive. Start with the %temp% directory, then Downloads folder. @RDAOU any other suggestions?

%temp% doesn't free up much (not 75 GB at least) ... will need to free up old backups, restore points, Windows Updates rollbacks... I would suggest to run "Disk Cleaner" and delete all

Maybe move some images/music/movies and such to a partition or external drive...

I still do not understand how Installer is requesting for 75GB for Revit!!!! 75GB!!! I have Illustrator/Photoshop/Lumion/Revit2014 & 2016 (including loads of add-in)/Grasshopper/Rhino/Navisw/AutoCAD 2007/2014 and lots of other crap installed on primary disk and using 110GB only!!!

I agree! Something is definitely wrong there... He should probably do a chkdisk, defrag or system repair, because Revit is not that large of an application.

I donwloaded Revit with Google Chrome and just now I read this

Note about Chrome browser: Download Now currently is not compatible with the Chrome browser. The Autodesk Download Manager will install, but the software download process will not complete successfully. To use Download Now, please use an alternative browser.

Maybe that is the cause of incongruity in the installation panel. What do you think?

Now the problem is that I already installed Revit, but without Content Libraries, because it was the only way to do it, since I could not free 75GB of space on my laptop. Sorry, guys to bother, but what am I supposed to do now? I burned an activation code, that I can only use on two devices, for an incomplete installation. The only thing I can think of is to download Revit on a second device without using Google Chrome and see what happens...is there a way to fix the installation on my first device? Thanks

I uninstalled Revit and then downloaded it again using Internet Explorer and then installed it a second time. No crazy numbers on the Installation Panel and now it looks fine. Thanks for the support, guys. I'm sorry I didn't read the Autodesk Download and Installation Guidelines before starting the process: I could have kept your time, but I can say that now we know that when one downloads the program with Google Chrome, a crazy free-disk-space-required number can show up on the installation panel: my contribution to the Community ;-]

I guess you're installing all the libraries available on the software, and sometimes you have the same family written in other languages. The software allows you to install libraries from several countries, but it's not necessary to have all of them. When I install, I just keep the US Metric and Portuguese, but often I work only with the US metric. Try to install only what you need.

What I did to solve this was:

Uncheck all the other countries' libraries, I left only US imperial and US metric.

this solved the free-disk-requirement issue.
