4D simulation -IFC

Hello all,

I want to create a 4D simulation. Do you have any way to do it working on the ifc file ?

(Instead of linking an excel file with the 4D dates to Revit for example).

Do you have any other way to add dates in Revit elements in order to make a simulation ?

Thank you in advance!

Not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish. You want to add dates to elements inside the IFC? In that case you would need to get back to the source software of the IFC and add dates there. Where do you wan to do the 4D simulation?

A possibility might be be to add a parameter to your Revit elements containing the relevant date. Depending on the information you could have the dates in excel and then use Dynamo to push them to the Revit parameter (if you have a way of linking the date in excel to the Revit element)

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Hello L.Maas,

Thank you for your answer.

I want to have the 4D information stored in the IFC file. Until now the solution would be to create new parameters (construction start / end, demolition start/end) in Revit and to link these parameters with an excel file with the dates data. After using Navisworks to create a 4D animation.

Do you have another idea/proposition?

Thank you!
