3D view not working

I am having a problem with one of my files, where the 3D view and selection box are not working. If I have an existing 3D view with a section box and I adjust it, this happens. I am in Consistent colors mode but most of the model appears as hidden lines. Is there anyway I can fix this?3d view.PNG

Hi,

Yes I have tried to create a new 3D view and it does not work. I have also selected an element and tried to create a section box, and it also does not work. The detail level is fine and there is not a view template on the view. Another strange thing that happens is when I create a new 3D view the default eye and target elevation are something like -xxx-xxxxxxxx. Zoom to fit does not work, there are no linked CAD or Revit files.

Hi @Anonymous

Which version of Revit are you working on?

Can you confirm if you have the latest updates installed for your Revit version?

Regards,

How far away is your model from the Origin point?  Try turning on your Project Base Point....as long as it is 0,0,0 measure to it.  If you are quite a ways away from that point Revit will have issues.  We have a project that is 15 miles away and we are seeing some pretty messed up graphic issues when trying to detail.

...looks like a material transparency from here.

Hi,

I am using the latest version of Revit 2017. I even tried upgrading the file to the latest version of Revit 2018 and the problem still exists.

The project base point is set on one of the corner of the building, and there are no Revit or CAD links in the file. It is not an issue with transparency because its the same material as the glass that appears normally on the top and the bottom of the image I posted.

I am thinking maybe it is an issue caused by an external plug-in or just a bug in the software? Has this happened to anyone else before?

Hi,

There isnt a view template on the view. There is a problem when creating a new default 3d view, viewing an existing 3D view, and trying to change the section box of an existing 3D view.

See the following images: The first is an existing 3D view that has a section box. If I attempt to change the size of the section box this happens

Can you check your Graphic Display Options to see if your Transparency slider bar has jumped?

What version are you using?

Hi,

Nope, it is set to 0.

In my last post I attached the Revit file if you have time to look at it.

Thanks!

I can't even open the Project. It's throwing up all sorts of errors trying. Can you post a Local, stripped-down version?

... I can open it

... I can see the building

... I can see almost everything

... but I can not edit because permissions

... so I don't know why I can but you don't

.... I'm dettaching the file from central to get more control

... let me see what can be done

Well then, go for it @aRcHiTeCt.JM. I'll jump back in and help out if I don't have to jump through hoops trying to open the OP's project.

Very strange.... I have opened it on multiple computers and the problem happens on all of them. I'm attaching a cleaner detached file. Thanks

@Anonymous: still funky behavior happening at my end with this new RVT.  I'm wondering if the file is corrupted? Have you Audited it recently?

Hi @Anonymous

The file is fine.

Please try an audit and check if it resolves the issue.

... I give up

... tried couple of times, got stuck, waste of time

...

... but my guess is something to do with linked models.... rvt and dwg ... or something

Yes the file was audited, it was the first thing I tried. There are no linked Revit or dig files.

Anyway thanks everyone for your time. We copied pasted the elements from this file to another to fix the issue.

I still think it must be a bug caused by a plugin.
