3D View jumps around when selecting objects

In 3d views, the view jumps around abruptly when objects are selected or just randomly. It's extremely annoying.

Is there any solution to this?

Sounds like a "long distance from origin" problem. I would check to see if your geometry is a long way from the origin. if so move it closer to the origin and the problem will go away.

The Project Origin Point is rght there. I'm very aware of it's location and it is close, so that is likely not the issue.

I've also reinstalled the latest NVIDIA drivers today. Revit 2017.2

Project Origin and the "true origin" can still be far away from one another. To check, you can select the project origin, unclip it, then right click and select move to startup location. If it moves, you are away form the "true origin"/startup location.  if you are still close, or it does not move, then I am not sure what else to check beyond the graphic drivers which you have already checked.

I already algned it with the true origin.

It seems to be a long running bug with no resolution. It's also hard to Google or search in forums, CAD problems ppo up before Revit problems even with "-AutoCAD" in the search.

I will try to record the effect.

it seems there is some objects far away of your model
these object my be in cad or Revit link

use (selection box ) command in modify panel to avoid this problem and keep the section box available in your 3d model to focus on your model

kindly, assign this as accepted solution if it solve your problem

That is not the issue. I'm well aware of the effects of far away origin point and stray CAD. These are quite different issues. I would be able to detect this by doing a zoom all, but there is nothing away from the building.

This is most likely due to a bug with multi monitors, I have three screens. Revit is on my main screen.

we have two monitors and that never happens , maybe three is different i don't know

did you test the vga card or maybe your model is away from the origin ,

maybe the far away object is inside any family
try to delete all loadable families and see what happen

For the third time, that's not the issue. This happens in the family editor and empty project or empty family editor as well.

Do you have multiple monitors?  I am guessing yes.  I am not sure of the version of windows you are using but I have been using this fix for the past 8 years.  Go to you "Display Settings" and make the bottom of the displays align (also, try aligning the tops of your display if the bottom doesn't work).  Screen Alignment.JPG

Good Luck.

Indeed, I have three monitors.

My screen were aligned at the top. Now they are aligned at the bottom and the problem persists.

Hi @Anonymous

Does this happen with only one specific model or for all models?

For all models. It seems to move the view when I select an object or if I refresh.

Sometimes it will only refresh part of the images, so there's a square that's looking at a different part of the view. When it does this, it pushes the odel around. The result often looks like this. A square out of place. Then next when you move, the resto f the image follows the updated square part.

Hi @Anonymous

Can you ensure if your graphics card driver is updated?

Hi @Anonymous

Is Revit located on the primary monitor? and is the graphics card certified?

Try unchecking your hardware acceleration and let me know if the error persists?

We would also require your journal to troubleshoot further.

Regards,

It is on the primary monitor.

Don't get me started on certified graphic cards. Ièm using a Geforece card, NVIDIA does not even try to certify Geforce cards, bcause they want to con people into buying useless quadro cards.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/stop-pretending-quadro-cards-are-better-than-geforce/idi-...

I can try without the hardware acceeration for troubleshooting. Should I just send you my journal as a private message?

Did anyone find an answer for this?  We have two people in our office having the same issue.
