3D Parametric Bench Help

Anonymous

Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help. I have a mass of a parametric type bench that I need to make totally 3D but I'm not sure how to do it. My partner for my group assignment made it but doesn't know how to expand on it and has given me the task. I have tried a few ways but keep getting error messages! If someone can please help me find a solution it would be a great help! It needs to be in Revit.

A bunch of rectangular Void Mass Forms intersecting a single Solid Mass Form would get you there.

Google for video tutorials on Massing in Revit.  There's a bunch of them out there.

Here's one I just found. At about 3:26 the author shows the method I would use to create the Solid.

TIP:  use plenty of Points for each Spline and use X-Ray Mode when you shape the surface (e.g. move the Points about).

@Anonymous looks like you already have it figured out.  what else do you need from that model?

@Anonymous

  1. Is it already parametric?  Has there been any relationships defined between the elements (the Mass & the Void) that allows for manipulating the form/shape of that bench?
  2. What do you mean by Total 3D? from the image you posted, it is already as 3D as it can get
  3. How would you like to expand on it? can you elaborate?

PS: I cannot open/download from dropbox so cannot look at your file unless it is attached to your reply here.

I see @ToanDN. Looks like an In-Place Mass.  Maybe that's the issue. Maybe @Anonymous cannot edit it because they are using Revit LT.  LT doesn't have In-Place Massing tools as far as I know.
