3D Autocad to revit

I would like to use an acad 3d dwg in REVIT to save me trying to remodel it.

The problem is when I make into a family and load into my project the angle is wrong.

Is it possible to correct this or should I just remodel in REVIT.

make it a level based family, align and lock it to the reference so it doesn't flip

is this an actual 3D Dwg? if so, import it into a generic model and simply use it as a family in revit...If you post the dwg file you have, one could give you more tips

This is not a 3D dwg...the isometry shown in the file you sent is more like a flatshot (2D). But since you have the plan view and all elevations, What you can do with this family is import into a generic model with a rectangular extrusion and then place the front/Back/Left/Right elevations and top view in the corresponding view then mask and set visibility settings as needed. Result would be as follows:

  • In the 3D model in revit it would show as a simple box
  • in plan view, sections and elevation you would see the imported dwg

Otherwise, you would need to look for a Generator which is 3D modeled

You are welcome; and sorry that family did not work out the way you wished it would
