Good morning all, I hope your all staying well in this crazy time.
So I have been asked by my boss to create some 3D families, basically like little monopoly houses - just little masses with pitched roofs, but he wants them to also work in 2D.
So if we were to view them in 3D view they would be lots of little pitched roof houses of different colours depending on their type (2 bed 3 person etc) but if they are viewed in plan you can see just a coloured box with a dotted line to show the inside walls. They will be placed at different ground levels due to the topography of the site.
Additionally, I need to be able to schedule them - so you can see how many of each house type are in the overall masterplan.
Thanks to you lovely people I've created the 2D families but I can't work out how to import these into a mass so you can see them in plan. I've attached them here.
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, so very sorry for the delay in coming back to you - I completely switched off for the bank holiday weekend.
Thank you for your help - but I appear to be falling at the first hurdle. So yes I'm on REVIT 2016 (supplied by work) so I can't open your model but I've tried to create a metric generic model with the first set of dimensions and I just get an error ..........
ill try to make a video showing the steps today. unfortunately i don't have 2016 on my PC, the oldest version i have access to is 2017.

Ok, turns out i did still have 2016 on my PC... i guess I.T. never uninstalled it. LOL
here are 2 videos to get you started. the first one is how to make the initial 3D building. the second one is adding your detail item and creating types in the building, linking them the types in the detail item. the attached family has 2 types already made. the colors are not correct, but you can fix that
and make any additional types needed.
let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh my goodness, that is so very above and beyond - and really clear.
Thank you so much - that's exactly what I was trying to do.
I hope you have a great day.
My Pleasure, you can take it from there and modify it as needed and amaze your boss ![]()
