Noticed recently that the Recent files in the File menu on 2018.3 is blank despite working in numerous files.
Recent files home screen shows the most recent 4 files and 4 families, but the file menu is blank.
I just checked the ini file and there are 16 files listed there and appear to be in the most recent order, so that part is working. But Revit cannot seem to display them. When I open a file in Revit it alone is displayed there and I can pin it, but it won't stay pinned and disappears as soon as I close the file and or Revit.
2017 and 2016 and 2019 are working as expected
there are a couple of updates to revit 2018.3.....
2018.3.1 and 2018.3.2
try updating to those first and check again

Yes and did a repair. Don't really want to have to reinstall because I will have to reinstall and reconfigure all the add ins as well. One in particular will require time to reconfigure. Was hoping there was an easy fix for this.
hum....interesting
Do you want me to set up and Autodesk Tech Support Ticket?

We have seen a similar issue with Revit 2019.1, but if @chubbard can send me a screencast, files, and diagnostic data it will be great to investigate the cause.
Can you please post a journal and a screencast of what you are experiencing?

Latest journals are posted. Not sure what you want me to post in a movie. The screenshot above is what my recent files looks like. I can post a cast of me opening the menu, but not sure what that serves.
Hi @chubbard
Thanks for the journals! ![]()
Screencast helps us in reproducing exact steps.

Try changing your Windows Display settings some. Like your Display zoom, make sure it is less than 150% and if you have a high res monitor try lowering the resolution down and and see if that helps.
While doing that, check your display drivers too.
Original settings are 3840x 16600 (Native monitor resolution) and 100% scaling
Tried 2560x 1440 and 1920x1080 recent files do not show in any.
Drivers are up to date
Hi @chubbard
Thanks for providing all the details.
The investigation is in progress and please feel free to check back for an update next week.

Hi Viveka.
I am experiencing a similar problem with Revit LT 2019.1. Since installing this update my recent files list and image cache are not updating when files are closed. Screencast attached.
Regards.
Chris
Hi @Anonymous
Can you please reattach your screencast?
Thanks,

Hi Viveka.
I seem to have sorted the problem. From the FILE/OPTIONS I toggled Enable recent files page off and on again. I also opened several family files as well as project files. Not sure what step fixed it but for now both the recent documents list and home page seem to be updating as they should. For a while there neither would update despite numerous saves and restarts. Thanks for getting back to me.
The screencast illustrates what was occurring earlier.

Chris
Ok
That sort of worked for me. Clicking back and forth like above didn't bring them back, but then restarting Revit did.
So looks like some combination of clicking back and forth between recent and open and or restarting Revit kicks it back in gear.
Hi @chubbard and @Anonymous
Thanks for getting back on this one and sharing the things you've tried.
This issue is linked to the below article and the reason for this behavior is being investigated.
Recent files list and Recent File icons are not updating in Revit
I'll update if I have further information form the team.
Thanks,
