2017 (BIM360) Linked files need re-linking to show correct V/G settings

Hello everyone.

We are working on a big scale project with BIM360, and we have a peculiar issue with linked rvt files. The issue began just over a week ago, before that everything was fine. The project has been in the works for about 2 years.

Just to clarify how everything's connected:

We have around 50 types of apartments (.rvt) which are linked to 12 different block files (.rvt), which are linked again to the site file (.rvt). Around 3000 apartments in the end.

In a view for Area Overview, we use the linked files settings in V/G to show the colors of every type of apartment.

To the issue:

When the site file is opened (not every time) some (only some) links don't show their colors, some apartment links in some linked blocks might not load as well, while some are still visible.

The only solution we've found is to remove the link, link it again, and then apply the V/G of the linked file. Then it MIGHT correct the issue. Just reloading the link doesn't work. Then we close the site file, open it the next day and the same issue is there again.

We are upgrading the whole project to 2019 in a couple of months, which might solve the problem. In the meanwhile, is this something that we can fix?

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,

Magnus J.

A - ( linked ) in B ( linked ) in C

1. Make sure the links are attached and not overlay ( am sure theres is no problem here )

2. logically when you want to see updated A, in file C... just reloading B wont help..

3. just follow logical steps.. Save A, Open File B, reload A and Save B... and then Reload B in C...

4. any missing step would result in missing information ..

Hope that helps

Best luck..

Thank you for your suggestion, but we already have every link as an attachment.

Can't think of anything that would fix this as of right now..
