Shared Parameter, ExternalDefinition, InternalDefinition

I insert shared parameters to project parameters.

I know that shared parameters are ExternalDefinition.

However, when I look up the parameters with the API, they all come out as InternalDefinition.

Does anyone know why this is, or has anyone experienced the same problem? I'm trying to get the GUID of the shared parameter, but I can't get it because it's InternalDefinition.
