Revit viewer mode VERSION?

Hi all!

So I need a colleague to be able to view my Revit files. I learned that if you install Revit and use it without license it opens up in a 'viewer' mode. My question which I can't find the answer to.. Does the Revit software version need to be the same as the drawing (or newer)? Just like in editing mode where you are unable to open a 2021 Revit file in Revit 2020.

In that case, would you recommend me to install the latest Revit software on my colleague's pc? I asume he won't be able to save it?

Or would you recommend me to install all Revit versions I work with so it won't need to update the file anytime he wants to view my revit file?

Looking forward to some ideas!

Hi @tijl.tytgat ,
you can't open .rvt files which saved in newer versions on an earlier version e.g.
you can't open a 2021 Revit file in Revit 2020
I recommend you to try BIM360 Docs (even with trial) so you will be able to view your .rvt files in any version without any installation!
