Revit Startup Menu

Hey everyone — I’m wondering if anyone has found a way to customize the Revit startup screen (the one that appears when you first launch Revit, with options like Open, New, Recent Files, etc.).

Ideally, I’d love to:

  • Add a custom button or link
  • Display an internal company dashboard, standards, or quick launch tools
  • Possibly even embed HTML or redirect to a SharePoint resource

Has anyone explored this? Is there an API hook, registry hack, or a creative workaround using add-ins?

Thanks in advance!

@jeremytammik or any other experts!

The idea looks fun, but to edit the main Home probably is complicated depending what you want to do.

The main reason the Home is a plugin (ModelBrowser) inside Revit and is actually a html inside a WebBrowser.

You can find the plugin ModelBrowser inside the Revit folder:

  • %ProgramFiles%/Autodesk/Revit 2025/AddIns/ModelBrowser

If Home was a WPF would be easier to inject some extra button using an external plugin, now a html have no idea.

You still can edit the main index.html and experiment, just don't forget make a backup copy 🙃
