Hello,

We observed a bug with the IFC exporter for Revit 2018 (Exporter 18.0.0.420 - Alternate UI 18.0.0.420) for space boundaries level1. You can see in the following picture from Solibri than the IfcSpace has a good shape but the IfcRelSpaceBoundary level1 is not limited by the roof.

Dear Bruno,

Thank you for your report.

Sorry to hear about this.

I logged the issue REVIT-130473 [IfcRelSpaceBoundary of wall extends beyond roof -- 14130211] with our development team for this on your behalf as it requires further exploration and possibly a modification to our software. Please make a note of this number for future reference.

You are welcome to request an update on the status of this issue or to provide additional information on it at any time quoting this change request number.

This issue is important to me. What can I do to help?

This issue needs to be assessed by our engineering team and prioritised against all other outstanding change requests. Any information that you can provide to influence this assessment will help. Please provide the following where possible:

  • Impact on your application and/or your development.
  • The number of users affected.
  • The potential revenue impact to you.
  • The potential revenue impact to Autodesk.
  • Realistic timescale over which a fix would help you.
  • In the case of a request for a new feature or a feature enhancement, please also provide detailed Use cases for the workflows that this change would address.

This information is extremely important. Our engineering team have limited resources, and so must focus their efforts on the highest impact items. We do understand that this will cause you delays and affect your development planning, and we appreciate your cooperation and patience.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hello Jeremy,

We are developing a software for thermal engineers to transfer data from IFC model to Trnsys. I'm not the product manager of this tool but I work with him on all IFC issues. The product has just been commercially launched and we receive first IFCs from architects using Revit. so we don't have much hindsight but I will try to answer your questions:

  • Impact on your application and/or your development.
    • with thi kind of problem, in the best case the thermal user has to use some other tools (like SimpleBIM for example) to correct IFC, in the worst case,  the thermal user can't launch thermal simulation

  • The number of users affected.
    • Less than 10 for the moment

  • The potential revenue impact to you.
    • The impact is not only a question of income. This is specially a problem in the trustof the various engineering offices in the use of IFC for simulation purposes.

  • The potential revenue impact to Autodesk.
    • I don't know

  • Realistic timescale over which a fix would help you.
    • The mentioned this bug to Angel Velez in April 2017. So a realistic timesacle would be less than 2 months.

  • In the case of a request for a new feature or a feature enhancement, please also provide detailed Use cases for the workflows that this change would address.
    • I uploaded both Revit and IFC file. I something is missing, please tell me what kind of data is needed.

Thank you in advance

Best regards

Bruno
